As the pandemic compelled institutions around the world to pivot into different forms of distance education, and issues of quality, equity, well-being, and accessibility arose, instructional design and instructional designers were forced into the limelight.

The need was sudden, unplanned for and at an unprecedented scale. The sustained state of emergency has raised some tough questions:

i. How can we address that shortage in instructional design expertise?
ii. How can we ensure sound pedagogy and quality in less resource-abundant parts of the world?
iii. Do we need new processes for instructional design to address the rapid transitions?
iv. To what extent could technology replace the role of instructional designers?
v. What are the implications of all these new mandates on the training and professional development of instructional designers?
We aim to discuss these questions on 21st October at 5pm as part of this webinar. Let’s talk ID–Instructional design post-Covid 19:What are the implications for field and profession?
